WEB Calendar Q&A

The Web Calendar was launched about 2005 and fully replaced the paper diary sheet in 2008.

Q:  When can I use the new WebCalendar?

A:  Immediately.  The new WebCalendar has already replaced the two Word versions of the diary that were available from our Quorum Web site.

Q:  Will I still get my existing diary?

A:  No, unless you don't have email.  The paper diary in its current form has now been replaced by the WebCalendar (or a printed copy).

Q:  I don’t have WEB access.  How do I enter my event?

A:  Let the committee know about your event in the usual way.  Alternatively, anyone who has access to the WebCalendar can enter an event there for you.

Q:  Will I be bombarded with email?

A:  No.  The WebCalendar does not produce any e-mail.  Therefore, if you add or make a change to a diary event already published; you still need to let people know about the change.  We hope to introduce a monthly e-mail of events in the future.

Q:  How do I access the WebCalendar?

A:  Visit http://QuorumSocialClub.co.uk/WebCalendar or simply click the a link on the Quorum Web site.

Q:  How do I Login?

A:  Click on the (login) link in the footer of the WebCalendar and enter your personal UserID  (i.e. “«UserID»”) and password (currently “«Password»”).  Then please change your password and login again (to confirm access).  Note User ID and Password are both case sensitive.

Q:  What if I forget my Password?

A:  Contact one of the administrators at Diary@QuorumSocialClub.co.uk who will reset it for you.  Then please change your password again.

Q:  How do I enter an event?

A:  Click on the for the icon on the day of the event and complete the following details:
Brief Description:    A brief description, as it would appear on the current diary.
Full Description:      A (optional) detailed description (typically about 5 to 10 lines).
Category:               Choose from one of the available choices.
Contact:                 Choose from one of our members (only available if you’re logged in).
Scheduling:            Enter a start and end time, etc (optional).
Note: Do not enter personal details in the descriptions.

Q:  How do I correct, change or delete an entry?

A:   A member (when logged in) may edit or delete entries entered by them.  Otherwise please contact one of the WebCalendar administrators at Committee@QuorumSocialClub.co.uk who can change anything.

Q:  How much does this all cost?

A:  Nothing.  The WebCalendar is freeware, which has been modified and configured to meet out needs.  It is hosted from the Quorum Web site which already has spare capacity.

Q:  Is the system secure?

A:   It is as secure as we can reasonably make it.  However, the system doesn’t use secure data transfer, so information and passwords are not encrypted as they are transmitted across the Web.  Also, you password may be stored on you PC in a “cookie” (optional).  The WebCalendar and Web site are secure and passwords protected.  It is recommended that you do NOT use a password used for other secure accounts.

Q:  What details are confidential?

A:  Personal details such your name and telephone number are only available to members.  The WebCalendar is also available for public access.  However, they will only see the UserID of the event contact and the event descriptions, i.e. no full names, telephone numbers or other personal information.
